John F. Kennedy Center Moves for Major Renaming to Trump-Kennedy Center, According to Administration Statement.

The board of trustees of the iconic performing arts venue has decided to adopt a new name the Trump-Kennedy Center, as confirmed by the White House.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declared online that the board's vote was unified, citing "the extraordinary job President Trump has done over the last year in preserving the building."
"This is destined to be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt achieve new levels of success and grandeur," Leavitt continued.
The proposed move is expected to be deeply divisive, notably in Washington, D.C., where the center has served as an iconic landmark since its completion and original naming for President John F. Kennedy.
Background of the Institution
Not long after beginning his term, President Donald Trump fired all the center's incumbent trustees and appointed loyalists in their place. The freshly appointed board then voted to appoint Trump as chairman.
The president later secured approximately $257 million in congressional funding to pay for significant upgrades and associated costs at the aging venue.
Historical Roots
The vision for a federal performing arts center originated in the 1950s. Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, in 1963, the then-under-construction venue was named in his honor.
