Multiple passengers and crew have been injured when a Delta aircraft from LA to Sydney, Australia experienced turbulence on Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson stated. Four flight attendants required medical attention.

Emergency medical services said they treated five individuals, and transported three of them to hospital with minor injuries that comprised pain in the back and migraines. The patients' ages spanned from their 30s up to the 70s.

It is the latest incident of aircraft experiencing severe turbulence, with aviation specialists pointing out that climate change is a key driver.
